Microdermabrasion in Our Office
Every person has his or her own unique skin concerns. In the Tampa office of Dr. Lombardi, we create solutions for the individual. In many cases, microdermabrasion is an excellent treatment all on its own. It is, however, safe and gentle enough to be combined with other rejuvenating procedures.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is what many people call a “lunchtime treatment.” The mild resurfacing we perform takes under an hour to complete and it leaves the skin with a healthy, vibrant glow. Our precision instrument sends a stream of fine particles toward the skin, where they remove dead and damaged cells that cover the surface. These particles, along with removed cells, are immediately suctioned away from the skin. Skin that has been treated with microdermabrasion reflects light in a more uniform manner leading to that desirable glow.
Like chemical peels and other treatments performed in our office, microdermabrasion is fully customizable through adjustments to our handpiece. Depending on your needs, we will set our device to a gentle buff and polish or to a stronger stream, which achieves deeper exfoliation.
After a short treatment, the skin may look slightly pink but will not look red or swollen as it might with aggressive resurfacing.
Is Microdermabrasion Right for You?
Microdermabrasion can be ideal for people of all ages. Men and women who want conservative treatments that are very comfortable, convenient, and affordable will appreciate what this procedure can do. Using precise techniques, we can perform microdermabrasion to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, minor scarring, blotchiness, mild acne, and fine lines.
Patients who choose rejuvenation with microdermabrasion get to see an immediate improvement in the way their skin glows. With subsequent treatments, the skin will continue to improve in tone and texture. Light lines and wrinkles may smooth away. Depending on your ultimate goal, we will schedule a number of treatments and suggest other therapies suited to your goals.
