About Growth Removal

Growths can develop for a range of reasons. They occur when the body’s cells divide and grow at an excessive rate. Most of the time this is harmless, but they can often interfere with your aesthetic and self-image. Growth removal is a popular and safe way to remove these blemishes. We can remove a variety of different growths, including skin rags. Moles are one of the most common types of growths.

Using the latest dermatological techniques, Dr. Lombardi can remove a range of growths, resulting in smoother, even skin. Our methods come with minimal risk and you can return to your daily life virtually immediately.

Many of our patients express concern about their growths, worrying that they can be cancerous. One aspect of our growth removal service is to fully examine your growth and provide you with peace of mind about it. Almost all skin growths are benign in nature, and won’t cause you physical harm. However, there is no denying the impact they can have on your confidence in your appearance.

Mole Removal Overview

Moles and cysts are some of the most commonly removed benign growths. Each is quite different from the other. For this reason, the method of removal will also be fundamentally different.

Moles are seen on just about everybody. Often these growths are the result of sun damage that causes an increase in melanin. A mole is essentially a grouping of melanocytes, color-producing cells in the epidermis. The amount they reproduce will determine the size and shape of the mole. Moles may be brown, black, pink, or flesh-toned and may come in a range of sizes.

Usually, moles are not a significant cause for alarm. We understand, however, that a suspicious-looking growth of any kind may be distressing. In our Tampa office, we use advanced instruments to examine the skin for the earliest detection of abnormalities. And we provide a complete analysis of our results to our patients.

When necessary, we are happy to schedule the appropriate method of removal for a mole as well as microscopic examination to rule out skin cancer.

How Do We Remove Skin Tags?

Skin tag removal (and most growth removal) is a relatively straightforward process. The exact treatment of your skin tag will depend on its shape, size, and location. However, we tend to use one of three methods to remove your growth and return your skin to its smooth state.

  • Heat: We use heat to cauterize the growth.
  • Cold: We use targeted cold to freeze off the growth.
  • Surgical: We use sterilized surgical scissors to snip off the growth at its base. Though this counts as “surgical” removal, it puts almost no strain on your body and you quickly recover from it.
